TIA is one of the three international airports in Nepal and is the nearest to Lukla Airport for the Mount Everest Base Camp journey. Lukla is the usual starting point for the EBC trek.

Though the flight remains an exhilarating experience, it takes longer (around 45 minutes) and deposits you further from the trailhead, requiring additional transportation to Lukla.

2) Kathmandu to Jiri Trek: For those seeking a more gradual acclimatization and immersive cultural experience, consider trekking from Kathmandu to Jiri and then onwards to Lukla. This multi-day trek takes you through picturesque villages and rice paddies, offering a unique perspective on Nepali life.

3) Fly to Manthali: This smaller airport, closer to Lukla than Kathmandu, offers another alternative with occasional flights. However, flight options are limited, and costs can be higher.

Important Considerations When Choosing Your Flight:

Weather: Flights to Lukla and Ramechhap are notably weather-dependent, with strong winds and mountain clouds causing cancellations or delays, especially during the monsoon season (June–August). To prevent any disruptions, make sure your travel plans are flexible and consider travel insurance.
