Kailash Trek Brief Insight

The Kailash Trek takes you to the holy land of Tibet where you’ll take part in the holy ‘Kora’ around Mt. Kailash (6638m) itself. The mighty Mount Kailash is the ultimate pilgrim hub for Hindus and Buddhists around the world.

The picturesque display of Lake Mansarovar fills the tired soul with ease and the mysteries of Garuda Valley will surely amaze you. From the rugged terrain of the Dolma La Pass (5660m) to the soothing drive on the way to Lhasa, This trek encapsulates the essence of traveling in Tibet.

The journey to Kailash commences from Kathmandu and after getting the permits, we fly to Nepalgunj and then head out to the hills in Simikot. Acquainting with the hill tribes, we moved to Kermi. The routes here have famous gompas like Laikyo and Lhundrup Choeling. Proceed along the banks of the Karnali River before arriving at the Dhungkar Choezom Monastery. Conquer the mighty Nara La Pass (4560m) and take a final stop at Hilsa before entering Tibet.

After fulfilling the legal formalities, we entered Tibet and stayed at Purang. The route to Monster is decorated with views of the Rakshas and Mansarovar lakes. From here, the trail goes towards Garuda Valley. On the 13th day, we commence the Kora, which lasts for about 3 days. It involves circumambulating around Mount Kailash (6638m).

The Kora provides amazing views of the Thugie Zinbu Lake and climbing the Dolma La Pass (5660m). The Kora ends with a brief jeep tour around Lake Mansarovar and bathing in its holy waters. On a jeep, we move towards Saga and are blessed with views of the Chulu monastery. The drive may be boring, but the gorgeous views of the Brahmaputra and Tsang Po river make the trip memorable. After a brief stay in Shigatse, we venture out to Lhasa.

Here, we will visit the mighty Potala Palace and other numerous monasteries before finally departing from here.
