Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek Brief Insight

The 8-day Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek is a trek of life-time experiences. It is one of the shortest treks to the popular Annapurna Base Camp. This short Trek begins from Pokhara and reaches the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayas in central north Nepal.

The trek includes views of the Annapurna I (8091m) along with Machhapuchhre (6997m), and the entire Annapurna range.

This ABC Short trek not only features the Annapurna massif but other peaks as well. The other peaks include Manaslu (8163m), Mardi Himal (5553m), Annapurna South (7219m), and Machhapuchhre (6997m). On a clear day, the sun rises amongst the clouds and illuminates the mountains. Likewise, you will also get to enjoy Gurung culture along the trek.

Firstly, there is a short flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu. It is followed by a 3-hour drive to Matkyu. The first trek begins from Sinuwa. This trek lasts for about 5 hours on average. The third day bears a trek to the Himalayas through scenic trails.

The actual trek of Abc Short Trek begins on the fifth day. Also, there is a pre-prepared breakfast waiting at the Annapurna Base Camp. Here, you can enjoy a panoramic scene of the Annapurna range all the while enjoying your meal. Finally, the trek ends with a calming stop at the Hot Springs in Jhinu. A short drive from Nayapul to Pokhara brings the trip to a close.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Today, you will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our representative who will guide you to your hotel. On the way, you can enjoy the blend of hustle and culture in the city. Spend the evening by getting to know the guides and porters who will accompany you on the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Fly to Pokhara and Drive to Matkyu [3 Hrs]. Trek to Sinuwa (2360m) [5 Hrs]

Your early morning starts with a flight that takes you to the gateway of the Annapurna region, Pokhara. This flight takes about 25 minutes and give you a beautiful display of green hills and snowy mountains. Upon arrival in Pokhara, collect your necessities and get on a private vehicle that will lead you to Matkyu. We walk on steep stairs and lush forests to reach Sinuwa. Overnight in Sinuwa.

Day 3: Trek to Himalaya (2920m) [4 Hrs]

The trail sees a slight increase in altitude for the day. We will walk gently along a ridge and are greeted with delirious rhododendron forests. We take a quick stop at Bamboo which is a small settlement in the middle of the forests. Spend some time here and proceed to Dovan. The landscape here is filled with greenery and you can catch glimpses of the mountains. After trekking for at least an hour, we reach Himalaya. Overnight in Himalaya.

Day 4: Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m) [5 Hrs]

From Himalaya, we will make our way to the Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The road to MBC goes through Deurali and we trek past the Hinku cave. Walking past the Deurali, we can see the trail becoming snowy and bare. The vegetation starts to disappear as the altitude increases on the way to MBC. Shortly, we arrive at the base camp and admire the beautiful view of Machhapuchhre (6997m) and the Annapurna I (8091m). Overnight in MBC.

Day 5: Trek to ABC (4130m) [Morning Breakfast], Trek back to Bamboo (2310m) [7-8 Hrs]

From MBC, the trail sees a gradual increase in altitude to ABC. To reach there, we start the journey very early and walk along the snowy and slippery terrain. It will take you about 2 hours to reach ABC and you will get to admire sceneries of Annapurna mountain range from here. Enjoy the morning breakfast and interact with the fellow campers. After spending some time here, we head back to Bamboo by using the same trail. It sees a drastic decrease in altitude so we must be careful as we descend. Overnight in Bamboo.

Day 6: Trek to Jhinu [Hot Spring]

From Bamboo, we make our way back to Pokhara by initially visiting the Jhinu hot springs which lie on the premises of Jhinu Danda. You need to walk past small rhododendron forests and huge bamboo forests to reach Jhinu. We walk along steep slippery stairs to reach Jhinu Danda which sits on the bank of the Modi River. Spend a much-deserved break on the hot springs and relax. Overnight in Jhinu.

Day 7: Trek to Siwar and Drive to Pokhara

From Jhinu Danda, the trail sees a rather downhill path. As you proceed towards Pokhara, you will see traces of human settlements and continue for around 2-3 hours. Upon arrival in Siwar, you will head to Pokhara via private vehicle. At Pokhara, you can visit the Phewa Lake and other attractions around the city. Do visit the Davis Falls and Gupteshwor Mahadev cave too. Spend the night by strolling around Lakeside. Overnight in Pokhara.
