Gosaikunda Lake Trek takes you through dense rhododendron and pine forests, gorgeous little villages, and majestic waterfalls. This Gosaikunda Lake Trek takes you to three major areas: Langtang, Gosaikunda, and Helambu. This trek takes you to Gosaikunda Lake through Chisapani, Kutumsang, Tharepati, Phedi, and back to Kathmandu through Shin Gompa and Dhunche village.
Gosaikunda Lake
Gosaikunda Lake, also known as a frozen lake, is situated at an altitude of about 4,380 m. It lies in the Langtang National Park amid various mountain ranges. There are 108 other lakes in Gosaikunda along with other high altitude lakes like Surya Kunda, Parvati Kunda, Bhairab Kunda, and so on.
Gosaikunda Lake is a pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The area leading to Gosaikunda is mostly inhabited by the indigenous Tamang communities, providing you the opportunity to explore their unique lifestyle and culture. On the way, you will also witness some beautiful Buddhist monasteries, stupas, and a small cheese factory in Shin Gompa. Moreover, the panoramic view of Ganesh Himal (7422m), the Tibetan Himalayan range, Gaurishankar (7134m), and other peaks is mesmerizing.
The best time to visit Gosaikunda is from April to early June and from August to October. Nevertheless, you can visit this place any time of the year.

Detailed Itinerary
Day01: Arrival in Kathmandu
We will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to a hotel. You will enjoy the beautiful night lights in Thamel and delicious welcome dinner as you settle down in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day02: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal 1460m and trek to Chisapani 2215m
We first drive to Sundarijal, observe the beautiful waterfall and then start our trek to Chisapani. As we trek through a steeply uphill path, we pass through a beautiful Tamang village in Mulkharka that offers a stunning view of Kathmandu valley. Most of the Shivapuri ridge is filled with a dense forest of oak, pines, and rhododendron. Chisapani presents a spectacular view of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal ranges. Overnight in Chisapani.
Day03: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang 2470m
As we continue our trek uphill and downhill through the forest and terraced fields, we come across the beautiful Gul Bhanjyang village, consisting of numerous stone houses and a beautiful Buddhist stupa. Hiking further from Gul Bhanjyang to reach Kutumsang, we will witness spectacular views of Langtang Himal range and Ganesh Himal (7422m). Overnight in Kutumsang.
Day04: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati 3690m
From Kutumsang, we will climb up and down the hills through many meadows and deep forests of rhododendron and oak to cross some beautiful streams as we proceed north to reach Yurin Danda ridge whilst enjoying a stunning view of the Langtang Himal range. Finally, we reach Tharepati where we can see impressive vistas of Dorje Lakpa (6966m), Gaurishankar (7134m), Jugal (8013m), Numbur (6958m), and many other snow-capped mountains along with a good view of Helambu valley below. Overnight in Tharepati.
Day05: Trek from Tharepati to Phedi 3630m
Leaving Tharepati, we walk through rhododendron and pine forests and cross small streams to reach Phedi. Passing through the dense forests provides us the rare opportunity to explore the wildlife of the beautiful Langtang National Park. Along the way, we will witness stunning views of Langtang Himal range along with other mountains like Ganesh Himal (7422m) and Manaslu (8156m). We reach Phedi through Ghopte village where we will be stopping for lunch. This village consists of quaint beautiful houses built with stones. Upon arrival in Phedi, we will explore the village shortly before hitting the bed.
Day06: Trek from Phedi to Gosainkunda Lake 4380m via Lauribina Pass 4610m
Today we trek to Gosainkunda via Lauribina Pass (4610m), steeply through the rocky terrain. As we reach nearer to Gosainkunda, we will see the first lake Surya Kunda with an excellent view of snow-clad mountains and small patches of many other lakes. Gosainkunda displays a captivating view of mountains from Rowling in the east to Annapurna in the west and various mountains like Langtang Lirung (7227m) and Gaurishankar (7134m) in between. Overnight in Gosainkunda.
Day07: Exploring the Lakes
We explore the beautiful Gosainkunda Lake, which is frozen for 6 months during winter and is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains, along with many other lakes. Gosainkunda area consists of 108 beautiful glacial lakes, most of which are named after Hindu Gods like Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Bhairab and so on. A dip in the sacred Gosainkunda is believed to wash one of all his/her sins, so you can go for a bone-chilling dip if you wish to. Overnight in Gosainkunda.
Day08: Trek from Gosainkunda Lake to Shin Gompa 3330m
After an amazing day at Gosainkunda, we descend to Shin Gompa, a small village famous for its yak cheese factory and red-roofed gompa. On the way, we will pass by some beautiful lakes and forests with breath-taking views of mountains such as Langtang Lirung (7227 m) and Ganesh Himal (7422 m) in the background. Along the way, we might come across some animals like red pandas, musk deer, and some high altitude birds like snow Partridge and snowcock. Overnight in Shin Gompa.
Day09: Trek from Shin Gompa to Dhunche 1960m
The final route of the trek takes us to Dhunche, the end point of the trek. As we trek downhill from Shin Gompa, we pass through beautiful green rhododendron and pine forests. You can either rest in the hotel or explore this delightful town once you reach there. Overnight in Dhunche.
Day10: Drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu by private vehicle
Today we drive back to Kathmandu from Dhunche whilst enjoying the beautiful landscapes from the vehicle. For the rest of the day, we will explore the local culture in the streets of Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day11: Departure from Kathmandu
We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight back to your country, marking the end of an extraordinary trip.
