Brief Trip Description

This Hindu Pilgrimage Tour begins after your arrival in Kathmandu. On the first day, you will visit some holy sites in Kathmandu including Pashupatinath temple and Budhanikantha. The next destination on this tour is Lumbini.

Situated in the Terai belt of Nepal, Lumbini is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Buddhists all around the world. However, in Nepal, religious tolerance is one of a kind and Lumbini also boasts of numerous Hindu temples alongside the Hindu temples. One of the major destination sites in Lumbini is the Maya Devi temple which stands at the birth site of Lord Buddha.

Other places to visit in Lumbini are the World Peace Pagoda, Lumbini Museum, Myanmar Golden Temple, etc. From Lumbini, you will travel to another major pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhist, Muktinath Temple. This Hindu temple is situated at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La Pass(5416m). Muktinath temple comprises of golden statue of Lord Vishnu and the historical 108 stone water spouts behind the temple. It is believed that bathing in this water offers salvation.

After a wonderful visit to the Muktinath temple, you will return to Pokhara. In Pokhara, you will visit some pilgrimage sites like Tal Barahi, Bindyabasini, etc. From here, you will finally return back to Kathmandu marking the end of this amazing Hindu Pilgrimage Tour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

We will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to a hotel within the city. You are free to explore the city for the rest of the day. You can also prepare for the tour and shop for essentials. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Pilgrimage visit

After breakfast, we will visit some pilgrimage sites in Kathmandu. We’ll visit Pashupatinath temple, one of the biggest Hindu pilgrimage destinations in the world. The Pashupatinath vicinity boasts of a myriad of temples within its premise. From here, we will drive to Budhanikantha temple which displays a statue of Lord Vishnu. The tranquil environment around the temple is soulfully awakening as well. We can also visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square and explore the palace courtyard. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Lumbini

This day marks our exit from the Kathmandu Valley as we take on the company of the serpentine roads leading to the southern plain of Terai. After around 8 hours of drive, we will reach Lumbini, the Birthplace of Buddha. Lumbini is a UNESCO world heritage site and is home to numerous monasteries and stupas which reflect the principles of Buddhism. Overnight in Lumbini.

Day 04: Full day Lumbini Sightseeing

Firstly, we will visit the Maya Devi temple and the Ashoka Pillar. These monuments are located adjacent to each other and are said to mark the exact birth spot of Lord Buddha. Near the temple is a sacred pond, Pushkarni pond where Maya Devi is said to have taken a bath before giving birth to Buddha. In Lumbini, we will also visit other places like World peace pagoda, Myanmar Golden Temple, Lumbini museum, etc. All these sites reflect the harmony between Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepal. Overnight in Lumbini.

Day 05: Drive from Lumbini to Pokhara

After early morning breakfast, we will drive to Pokhara from Lumbini. The drive heads north as the plain roads take on the company of the lush hills. After driving for a few hours with the scenery of far-away Himalayas, we arrive at Pokhara. Annapurna I (8091m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m) decorate the skies with pearl-white majesty. In Pokhara, we can tour around a number of destinations like Bat Cave, Mahendra Cave, Davis Falls, and International Mountaineering Museum. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 06: Drive from Pokhara to Muktinath via Jomsom

After breakfast, we will drive to Muktinath via Jomsom. The drive begins from Pokhara and heads northwest to Jomsom passing Tatopani and Lete on the way. The Kali Gandaki River keeps us company while the Himalayas in Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri ranges are clearly visible on the drive. Passing the windswept town of Jomsom, we drive to Muktinath. The temple is situated at the foot off the Thorung La Pass (5416m) and holds great significance to both Hindu and Buddhist adherents. Overnight in Muktinath.

Day 07: Muktinath Excursion and back to Pokhara

The temple of Muktinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of life. Here, you can bathe in the ponds and 108 water sprouts surrounding the temple. In addition to this, this place also offers a stunning view of Mount Nilgiri (7061m), Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), and numerous peaks in the Annapurna range. After exploring the Muktinath temple premise, we will enjoy a scenic drive back to Pokhara. The drive back to Pokhara is a long one and you can rest at your hotel upon arrival. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 08: Pokhara Pilgrimage sites visit

We will visit some of the pilgrimage sites in Pokhara like Tal Barahi temple and Bindyabasini temple. The Tal Barahi Temple located in the middle of the Phewa Lake is a Hindu pilgrimage site in the City of Lakes. Also known as Lake Temple, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Bindyabasini is another pilgrimage destination which is also one of the oldest temples in Pokhara Valley. We can also visit the World Peace Pagoda in Pokhara. Besides these, there are many other famous temples in Pokhara with their own rich history. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 09: Back to Kathmandu

We will return back to Kathmandu after a wonderful tour to the Hindu pilgrimage sites spread across the country. Hogging the riverside roads of the Prithvi Highway, we return to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you can plan for other trips or prepare to head to your destination. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 10: Departure
